Resound 11: Vices
Did you slip back into any old habits that you wish you hadn’t? Did you gain any new habits that you wish you would have walked away from? Did you discover the evils of Nutella? ‘Fess up … we won’t tell.
“Slip back” would be accurate if I had successfully broken any of my bad habits this year. Looking back at my 2011 resolutions, I can safely say that I failed at half (3 and 7 were my successes and I sort of achieved 4).
I am most bothered by resolution #1.
Losing weight is hard, yo. It’s hard to develop an exercise routine, particularly when you travel as much as I’ve done this year. It’s hard to break three decades of eating too much, particularly when you actually like food and eating. It’s doubly hard when one of the side effects of your <tmi>baby prevention system</tmi> is weight gain.
Still, I can admit that I haven’t yet broken the mental pattern that keeps on the sofa instead of at the gym. Nor have I fully broken the portion-control pattern.
I can do better on both fronts.
