Reverb 10: Travel

How did you travel in 2010? How and/or where would you like to travel next year?

In 2010, my travel was mostly domestic. No matter. I took international trips in 2006 (Barcelona), 2007 (Sint Maarten), and 2008 (Morocco).

In 2011, I would like to resume international travel. A trip to either Buenos Aires, Paris, London or Barcelona would be wonderful. We’re also eyeing Iceland for our honeymoon.

What really mattered for my travel in 2010 was not where I went, but why I went places. In previous years, I traveled for conferences, or for international vacations. Almost all of my travel this year involved seeing people I love. Where we were — Minneapolis, New Orleans, Los Angeles — was (almost) irrelevant. It was far more important that we were together.

I’ve never given Iceland much thought. Since everybody wants to go there I should pay more attention.

For the first time ever in MY life, Iceland now has my attention. But, damn. There’s still New Zealand, Australia and Africa. Oh, and that return to Paris for that week. I really need to find a way to make a living that takes a lot less time.

Iceland is beautiful from what I hear. But it is also way, way expensive. My former coworker is from Iceland and visits annually. Blame his photos. The scenery is supposed to be breathtaking, plus Jason likes Bjork :-)
