Melle has tagged me with the Sing Along / 7 Songs summer music meme.

“List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your spring summer.   • “A Milli” by Lil’ Wayne from Tha Carter III: It’s perfect for annoying the hell out of people at stop lights. Has the right amount of bass that can quickly become obnoxious trunk-rattle.
  • “Magnificent” by Estelle from Shine: I’m a sucker for anything vaguely dancehall. So yeah, I heart this track with a guest appearance by the T dot’s Kardinal Offishall
  • “Everyone Nose” by N.E.R.D. from Seeing Sounds: Straight madness. Elements of bass, funk, and all kinds of stuff. Should be mandatory for every 2008 summer party mixtape.
  • “Zock On” by Teriyaki Boyz featuring Pharrell and Busta Rhymes: Super fun J-Hop. Plus I <3 any song where Busta Rhymes is a guest rapper.
  • “You’ll Find A Way (Switch and Sinden Remix)” by Santogold from Santogold: Crazy low-fi electronic beat. Weird vocals. Totally digging it.
  • “I Will Possess Your Heart” by Death Cab for Cutie from Narrow Stairs: It’s Jason‘s fault. Dope, dope song. Equal parts creepy and romantic.
  • “Royal Flush” by Big Boi featuring Andre 3000 and Raekwon: Yeah, this is probably more of a late-winter / early spring song than a summer song. But I didn’t hear nearly enough of it on the radio. On the list it goes.

    That Royal Flush is pretty amazing. Totally forgot to put it on my list. 7 was far too few, I needed at least 10. Good list.

    Yeah, Andre 3000 just shuts it down on “Royal Flush.” He gets my Best Verse 2008 Award hands down, and we’re only halfway through.
