Web Standards Project releases Acid3
Three years after the Acid2 test was released, the WaSP has developed Acid3. What’s Acid? It’s a reference test designed to help browser developers determine whether they are complying with W3C specifications, and how well they handle invalid code.
Acid1 and Acid2 tested for compliance with CSS 1 and CSS 2 specifications. Acid3 also tests for support of DOM Scripting / ECMAScript, SVG and webfonts.
Safari 3 and Opera 9 pass the Acid2 test, as does the beta version of Firefox 3. Version 8 of Internet Explorer will also pass the Acid2 test.
Here’s how today’s leading browsers handle Acid3 (check out the reference image). Each image links to a larger screenshot.

Version 8 of Internet Explorer will also pass the Acid2 test.
Not unless the IE team has announced that the Acid2 URL will be hardcoded to use the IE8 renderer instead of its default mode of IE7 rendering.
Guess what Carina: they did just that.
Yeah, I’m doing a happy dance about this announcement myself :-).
