5 über-cool, über-useful WordPress plugins

SimpleHelp.net offers a list of 7 plugins to install immediately after WordPress

Part of the joy of WordPress is the extensive number of plugins that offer added functionality and make blog management easier. Here are five of my favorites.

WP-Cache
UPDATE: Try WP Super Cache which turns your WordPress entries into actual HTML pages so that they don’t even need to be passed through the PHP parser. Make your site wicked-fast with this Caching plug in. WP-Cache turns your dynamic, database-driven pages into static ones, offering faster response times to visitors. You can set a cache expiration time, prevent some pages from being cached, and clear cached pages at any time.
Akismet
Excellent comment spam protection, but you do have to sign up for a free API key. You also have to pay if you earn more than $500 per month from your blog.
Link Limits
Provides an additional layer of comment spam protection by automatically limiting comments to a 2-link maximum, and automatically rejecting comments containing BBCode.
Comment Timeout
Auto-closes comments after a set number of days or a set number of days of inactivity. For WordPress 2.0
Tiffany’s Simple Technorati Tags
This plugin only makes the list because I wrote it :-). Add a custom field with keywords that are automatically turned into Technorati tag links.

If you use WordPress, which WordPress plugins do you swear by and why?

  1. I like Spam Karma 2 to ID spam and Spam Nuke to clean it from my system. SK2 can handle things like # of links and comments to old posts.
