Open-thread: Do too many blog topics drive you away?

Are you a single-topic blog devotee? Or do you prefer bloggers who write about a range of topics, as long as their words are snappy? Or does it depend on the stated focus of the blog and what you hope to get from it?

  1. I prefer a range of topics. It’s OK for a writer to refer back to his/her expertise, but I often find myself more interested if the blogger covers personal items, political views, or even commentary on random news events.

  2. There’s plenty of single-topic blogs that I follow, but the ones that I really enjoy have a very wide field of vision. Technical, personal, artistic, political, social: a well-rounded person, basically.

  3. I’m prolly not the best person to ask, as my writing suggests that I have a one-track mind. Jokes aside, I diversity of topics is typically more scintillating.
