Blogging via IMified

I’ve been using IMified for about 7 hours now. It’s a bot program that allows you to manage your to do list and reminders, save notes, and hook into some of your most-used web services (Google calendar, Backpack, your WordPress-powered blog). It’s similar to the dead-and-gone IMSmarter service. But be forewarned: it’s in beta. And it shows.

  1. Blogging via IMified…

I’ve been using IMified for about 7 hours no……

  2. Hi Tiffany, thanks for checking out Imified. Yes we’re still in beta and working out some kinks but I’d love to hear what specific issues your having.

  3. In the first scenario, I was trying to post a blog entry. When asked whether I wanted to publish it, I said ‘no,’ but the message I received was that it has been ‘posted’ — NOT what I wanted to do.

In retrospect, it is a wording issue — using ‘posted’ rather than ’saved as a draft.’ But at the time it seemed like a bug.

I’ve also experienced some slowness connecting to my calendar. When on the calendar menu, I’ve experienced lags between ‘2 - View calendar’ and any response from the server.

I also had a problem with the Google calendar private URL. It was properly configured, but for some reason the service couldn’t connect to it. I tried re-submitting the calendar URL, and it worked…. *BUT* when I view upcoming events:

    1. I receive too many events stretching out over the rest of the year.
    2. They’re not the next upcoming events (i.e., my doctor’s appointment for tomorrow isn’t showing up)
    3. They’re the same events I receive when I choose to view all events.

And another issue that I just stumbled across (like about 30 seconds ago): an event I added to my Google calendar for 11 a.m. on February 28 (exact syntax was ‘ 2/28/07 11 a.m.’) was entered as 1 p.m.

In the case of the calendar, I don’t think it’s the data. I looked at the private feed in a browser, and everything was properly dated and organized.

I haven’t had many problems with IMified itself. But some of the integration aspects are still rough around the edges.
