Links for November 30, 2006: An all identity and reputation management round-up

So now that we’ve all got 5011 online profiles, blogs, and accounts in 5011 places, several companies are stepping in to create online identity and reputation management tools.

Here’s a round-up, although I can’t offer much in the way of commentary. I’m basing my descriptions on under-5-minute-browse-bys (kind of like a drive-by, but with out the guns, cars or gang members) for each site.

Some are in beta. Some are full-blown. One seems a wee-bit sketchy. Two sites tilt more towards reputation management and referrals, though one manages to walk the line between the two. But the goal is largely the same: provide a way for people to claim a name or identity, aggregate and share information published by or about themselves.

Have you used any of these services? Would you bother (particularly if you’ve got your own domain)? Know of any others? Post in the comments.

  1. I went by ClaimID the other day, and they were having all kinds of server issues, but they look like they’re back now. They look the most interesting to me, although I’m not sure I feel a burning need for that sort of thing.

  2. Same here. I kind of like the separation, actually. Plus if you’ve got your own domain name, you can just aggregate everything there.

  3. Hi Tiffany, I think Spokeo should be in the list. Aggregating identities might not be Spokeo’s main purpose (Spokeo focuses more on aggregating your online friends’ blogs, photos, and videos). It does combine all your MySpace, Xanga, LiveJournal, … profiles in a very simple way. Moreover, it creates a mash-up of all your online contents (not just profiles) into a news stream. You should check it out :)
