PNG, new theme and switch to Mozilla
Updated July 10, 2006 to change download links
The Web will be a more beautiful place once Microsoft’s Internet Explorer for Windows decides to support native PNG alpha transparency, or the entire world decides to adopt Mozilla / Firefox.
PNG alpha transparency is a very nifty feature that lets you create translucent images. In the same way you can control layer opacity in Photoshop or Fireworks, you can create layers of varying opacity with PNG.
Check out the new Funky Green theme using Mozilla / Firefox or Opera to see PNG‘s alpha transparency in action. You should be able to see the photo of the lilly peeking through the translucent PNG file that is set as the background.
Sorry IE/Win users. You won’t be able to see the design as it should look unless you switch browsers.
Any browser can, however, download desktop wallpaper based on this theme: 1024 by 768 or 800 by 600.
NOTE: Safari for Mac OSX also supports PNG alpha transparency.
