Coming down the pike: InkML

This is old news, really, but it’s new to me.

In August, the World Wide Web Consortium released a working draft of InkML. InkML is an XML language that deals with “multimodal interaction” — such as drawing tablet input.

I wonder if this — and this is totally one of those "I-don’t-exactly-know-what-I’m-talking-about-so-I-don’t- even-know-if-it’s-possible" types of things — will be used down the line to create SVG images. For example: you draw something on a drawing tablet. It gets stored in an InkML file, but it can also be exported — or perhaps converted with XSLT to an SVG file.

Hmmmm…..
